John William Stoner
Son of Obediah Stoner and Margaret Fidler

b. 9 Feb. 1860 Richland Co., OH
d. (unknown)

Delbert M. Stoner first told us about John W. Stoner. He remembers that Margaret Fidler (Obediah's second wife) had a son prior to marrying Obediah Stoner and that his name was John Stoner.

John W. Stoner was born 9 February 1860 in Richland County, Ohio1. Margaret Fidler and Obediah Stoner married a year later, in 1861. In the 1860 Richland County Census, John W. Stoner is listed living with Margaret's father, John Fidler. Again, he is listed with John Fidler's family in the 1880 Richland County, Census. In an 1880 History of Richland County, Ohio, a bio of John Fidler talks about John W. Stoner who was raised by his grandfather. John Fidler had a farm in Franklin Township just less than two miles from John Stoner, father of Obediah Stoner. John W. is not mentioned in his father, Obediah's estate, nor is he mentioned in Obediah's obituary. Conjecture is that due to the nature of the pregnancy and birth (out of wedlock) Margaret's father raised John W.
