John Stoner 1803 - 1887 and wife Elisabeth's gravesite

The London Cemetery is located at the corner of Plymouth Springmill and Smiley Roads in Jackson Township, Ohio. Per the engraving on the marker, the church was there from 1832 - 1974. We visited the Jackson Township Trustee's office in 1996 in order to find cemetery and plot records to no avail (we even dug through an old trunk in the loft of a storage barn). The trustees we spoke to suggested that the records are in the hands of the Lutheran church. As of 2004, we have not found or received any records.

Delbert M. Stoner told us that Obediah Stoner (son of John and Elisabeth Stoner) is also buried in this cemetery, although there is no documentation at this time.

Grave marker for John and Elisabeth Stoner.

At the bottom on two sides is the name STONER. On one side is the name JOHN STONER died Oct 18, 1887 aged 83 years 10 months 18 days. On the opposite side the name ELISABETH STONER died Sep 3, 1883 aged 73 years 5 months 3 days.

When we visited this site in July 1996, the name STONER was still clear, however the names and dates were wearing away.
